Her English did not come from a textbook. It came from four years of arguing about films with strangers in three time zones.

Half the people who taught it to her live in countries her grandparents were told to be careful of. Nobody organised that. It happened because a comment section does not check passports.

Her case is simple: contact came first, policy came second, and the policy is now busy closing the thing that worked.
